Flea Market - Seattle calls!

The return of the Punk Rock market!!

Punk Rock Flea Market returns to the Underground Events Center on June 5, 2010! We are proud to be Seattle's favorite flea market, and we welcome vendors and purveyors of just about everything. Music, movies, clothing, toys, furniture, jewelry, soap, candles, computers, radios, books, belt buckles, balloon animals, bike parts, ceramics, roller skates, spray paint, incense, cupcakes, pickles, arts, crafts, pretty much anything you got. The name "Punk Rock Flea Market" refers to the DIY spirit of the event, not to any particular life-style or music choice. If you have it, you can set up a booth and sell it. End of story.

The basics are the same as always - the PRFM takes place all day Saturday at the Underground Events Center in Belltown and everyone is welcome. However, SOME IMPORTANT DETAILS HAVE CHANGED! Listen up! First, since this is a summer gathering we are crossing our fingers for good weather and opening up the outside parking lot for vendors. That means we can have up to 80 vendors, and you can have a double space this time, all you gotta do is ask me and pay for it. Also, let me know if you prefer an indoor or outdoor space and I will do my best to save a spot for you in the general neighborhood.

Second, speaking of paying for it, our costs have gone up! We kept the booth price as low as possible for as long as possible, but insurance costs and licensing fees have caught up with us, and we have to ask you for more money. It now costs 40 US dollars for a single space and 80 US dollars for a double. It's still as little as we can get away with, I'm really sorry if it creates a hardship for anyone.

Third, the whole event is open to all ages! We will have a bar AND your kids can stay all day! That's so cool! There are some rules to adhere to, but the Liquor Control Board has assured me that it's all legit, and we can legally usher in a brand new era of shopping in Seattle.

Finally, this time around, the market will open to the public at ten AM and we'll shut the place down around ten PM. Unlike last time, there will be no bands after the market closes. Instead, we are going to set up a small outdoor stage and have bands playing DURING the market. It seems like a better way to take advantage of the sunshine and it will hopefully get a bigger crowd in to see the bands. We have some ideas about who is going to play, but we always welcome your suggestions. Vendors are most welcome to stay for the entire event, but it isn't required.

Like always, the space we are using has been generously loaned to us for the day by the Low Income Housing Institute, aka. LIHI. LIHI is a non-profit organization that builds homes for homeless and low-income people all around the Puget Sound. Your table fees and entry donations go toward paying license, insurance and advertising costs for this event. Once those expenses are covered, all additional proceeds will go to LIHI. More info about them at www.lihi.org.

To reserve a table or ask questions contact me at PRFleamarket@gmail.com or (206) 957-8076. If you're a regular, you can just send me a note with your details and your payment. If you have never done the market before, ask me to send you a vendor form. The spaces are sold on a strict first-come first-served basis, so if you know you want to be there, get in touch! Fast! More info at http://www.myspace.com/punkrock_fleamarket.

That's the deal, get in touch, and we'll see you at the market. Josh, Corey, and the PRFM crew
